Directors Statement I felt a moment of peace, love and clarity that I wanted to preserve so that I could see it all the more real. Film recreates memory so beautifully. Seeing Ania lying there, I felt frozen in time. I felt music in my head but it had no melody; just an emotional presence. To recreate this mood that I felt so strongly and pleasantly I knew I had to work fast while I still had it. I shot, edited and found. the music to catch that memory in this video here before she even woke up from this afternoon nap. Now she's there, forever, whenever she wants to be, and anyone else can be too. You can watch an interview about the project here.Director’s Statement I wanted to bring mundane private behavior into public spaces in order to examine conditioned domestic routines. By showing distinctive activities outside of their usual surroundings, we bring to light how absurd human behavior can be when taken out of context.One of the main take-aways from making our film was the ease and comfort at which Anouk began to feel as she performed these rituals in public. She investigates and is stunned to see a spirit watching her. Strangely unafraid, the woman follows the spirit, who inspects her abode as if it were a prospective tenant. Watch on YouTube.Directors StatementI made this film using an experimental process — originally the spirit was going to be a smokey shadowy figure so I tried to use AI but it didn’t quite work. I decided instead to experiment and trust the process. After a few false-starts, I found that layering natural videos I’d filmed over the years (anemones in the London Zoo aquarium, frothy bubbles in the wake of a boat, reflected woodland in water) gave a much more satisfying character design.
