Nature

“People systematically overlook subtractive changes”

This project was an interesting one. Usually, the journal Nature uses cover images derived from graphic data in the study, however in this instance there wasn’t anything suitable.

I was commissioned by the researchers at The University of Virginia to come up with some ideas to pitch to Nature. I developed the concept in line with the preferences of the research team until we settled on a sophisticated yet playful illustration of the concept.

Conveniently, as the story has gained traction, some of my ideas have found appropriate audiences elsewhere, such as CBC and their own UVAToday.
